Damien Porter – President
Damien Porter is a Los Angeles native who graduated from UC Berkeley in 1992. He has traveled throughout Mexico with his family since he was a child. He discovered Sayulita in the early 90’s and bought property soon after. Since opening Don Pedro’s restaurant bar in 1994, Damien has been involved in numerous projects for the betterment of Sayulita, including sewer upgrades, malecon, etc., and is one of the founding members of Pro Sayulita.

Paul Rassmussen – President
Since retiring from a career in the photographic industry, Paul and his wife Lori have been splitting their time between Sayulita and Ft. Collins, CO. Paul spent 3 years of his childhood in Guadalajara as well as nearly 4 years in the early 90’s. They have been invested in Sayulita since 2008 and are both very passionate about our town and the Sayulita com.

Francisco Caivano - Secretary
Fran is a self-taught programmer from Buenos Aires with a passion for using technology to solve problems. He is fortunate to call Sayulita home for over 5 years.

Laura Pimentel - Treasurer
Laura is originally from Tijuana and grew up in Los Ángeles, CA. She came to Sayulita 20 years ago and fell in love with the town and dreamed of living there. Finally, in 2017, she made Sayulita her home. Laura wants to work to make Sayulita a wonderful place to live and visit for years to come.

Board Members / Vocales

Jeff Pulver
Jeff was nominated to the Board this past election. He is from the San Francisco Bay Area and spent the last three decades in the enterprise software industry. Jeff now spends part of the year in Sayulita and is enthusiastic about ensuring Sayulita continues to be a great, safe place to live and visit.

George Reavis
George is a real estate developer from Charleston, SC and has lived in Sayulita since 2018. He continues to develop low density real estate projects in Sayulita, and has recently started MexEdge, a company that helps protect Americans and Canadians against currency risk when buying or building property in Mexico. He is an active member of the Sayulita community and involved in several local organizations.

Laura Maiz
Laura discovered Sayulita in 1980. She has both Spanish and Mexican citizenships. She is concerned about environmental degradation in this community, and she is also the owner of Mundo Verde, a vendor of renewable energy and water systems. She is a world traveler and wants to be a guardian at this time of great change and innovation in Sayulita.

Janice Parker
Janice is a retired Canadian citizen who discovered Sayulita in 2010. She spends the winter months in Sayulita and the summer in Vancouver Canada. After being in Sayulita for two seasons, Janice identified the lack of Lifeguards on the beaches. Working with Firefighters Crossing Borders, Janice founded Sayulita Surf Rescue. In conjunction with Proteccion Civil, Sayulita Surf Rescue conducts annual training sessions for local surfers on water Rescue techniques. The program has trained over 250 people who have saved hundreds of lives. Janice became a board member in April of 2018.

Cara Possemato
Cara is a creative director from Brooklyn & LA who has called Sayulita home for nearly four years. Appreciating the contrast from big-city life, she loves the close-knit community and the meaningful impact that small efforts can make.


Jessica Adams
Jessica is a dedicated entrepreneur and community advocate in Sayulita, passionately working to preserve its charm while fostering sustainable growth. As the manager of Sayulita Central Hotel and volunteer of multiple initiatives, she blends business with activism, always striving to uplift both locals and visitors alike.

Janet Moeller
Janet Moeller was born in New York and lived in Guadalajara for 30 years where she owned a language school. She has lived in Sayulita full-time for 13 years, and is happy to be involved and working on projects to make Sayulita a better place for all.

Jack Jones
Jack Jones is a retired pilot, real estate developer and principal in a myriad of other businesses. He has been involved with several non-profits for children, and was the unpaid Director of a church preschool for 2 years. He lives in Sayulita year-round except for travel and family visits.
